Q

Electromagnetic Calorimeters (ECal)

A
  • e are stopped by ECal and undergo Bremsstrahlung Radiation (Emit photon and slow down)
  • γ are stopped by ECal and undergo pair production (Turn into electron-positron pair)
  • Probability of e/γ travelling x distance through an ECal = P = e^(-x/X)
  • X is Radiation Length

Q

Hadronic Calorimeter (HCal)

A
  • Contains all Hadronic Showers
  • Probability of a hadron travelling x distance through HCal = P = e^(-x/λ)
  • λ is the Nuclear Interaction Length
  • Thicker than ECal
