The New Year festival is my favorite. It starts in March and goes on for 13 days celebrating the arrival of spring. there are special foods, fireworks, and dancing during this celebration and on the last day Families spend the day in the country, enjoying nature and the fresh growth of spring
How do people prepare for this festival in your country?
Well, we start the celebration by spring cleaning and decorating our home with flowers. Then we set a symbolic table with seven items that represent a new start, love, and health.
Are there any other festivals in your country?
Yes, as Iranian citizens we celebrate the last Wednesday of the year. It’s a fireworks festival which starts on
(there is a fireworks festival celebrating the last Wednesday of the year. It starts on )
the sunset of the last Tuesday in which people gather bushes or wood logs in piles and set into the fire, and people jump over the fire in turns while singing traditional songs. They also eat nuts and candies together with their loved ones.
How important are festivals for a country?
Very important. They provide an opportunity for community members to come together and celebrate their shared customs, beliefs, and values, passing them down from one generation to the next.
What is the difference between how people celebrate special events today
and the past?
Nowadays, festivals tend to be very big even if they start small they usually grow into events for thousands of people whereas in the past festivals were generally more local affairs held in the community, so they were much smaller in nature.
Do you agree that the original significance of festivals and traditions is often lost today?
Yes i agree unfortunately with modernisation and urbanization, traditional festivals are disappearing. Since communities become more focused on economic development and modern ways of life rather than culture and traditions . On the other hand globalization has led to the spread of new cultural influences, which can sometimes overshadow or diminish the importance of traditional events.
What will special events be like in the future?
the way we celebrate festivals will definitely change in future. From visiting friends and family to calling them or sending texts over the internet. Changes in technology will continue and we might even see online-only events in the near future where people use virtual reality instead of actual celebrations and meet up on conferencing software instead of at each other’s houses.
Describe a festival you would like to attend
There are many interesting events that I want to attend one day but the one that I’m the most passionate about is the Holi festival which is a Hindu festival held at the end of the Winter.
Holi is all about celebrating spring, love, and new life. It’s a colorful festival, with dancing and singing. It is also known as the “festival of colors”.
People gather in open spaces, streets, and public squares, armed with dry powdered colors and water-filled balloons or water guns. And playfully throw paint and colored water at each other while The atmosphere is filled with laughter, music, and dance.
But Holi is more than just a colorful festival.
It’s a time when social disagreements are temporarily set aside. People from all cultures, regardless of their career, age, or social class, come together to celebrate and enjoy the festival.
It promotes a sense of unity and brotherhood among communities. Holi is also a time for forgiveness and letting go of past grievances, as people embrace each other with colors and exchange warm wishes.
The popularity of this festival has gone beyond India and most people from all over the world are familiar with this event
