AP knee upwards instruction’s ?
-Patient lays supine on x-ray table – knee fully extended
-Place lower edge of IR 2 inches below the knee
-Internally rotate leg so femoral condyles are equidistant to IR
-Centre midshaft
AP hip downwards
-Internally rotate leg so that the greater trochanter is in profile.
-Upper border of IR at the level of ASIS (side of the pelvis)
lateral knee (upwards)
-Place pt in recumbent position with affected leg against the table
-Lower edge of IR 2 inches below knee joint
-Flex affected knee 45 deg and rotate the patient on the affected side so that the femoral condyles are perpendicular to IR.
lateral hip (downwards)
-Place pt in AP oblique position with affected side closest to IR
-Flex knee for support
-Ensure unaffected leg is out of the FOV
-Place upper border if IR at the level of affected ASIS
-Externally rotate the leg, and rotate the pelvis so that the femoral epicondyles are equidistant.
-Ensure the distal femur is not elevated
