What do we look for
Presence of clitrois, labia mineral and Majora and vaginal opening
Clitoris size
Vaginal openeing
Passing urine and bowels
Genitalia problems
Vaginal fistula - opening between vagina and other organ, allow wee, poo and gas to pass through vagina
Enlarged clitoris - exposure to too many androgens in fetal development
Congenital adrenal hyperplasia
Where adrenal glans is bigger than normal
If baby is born with ambitious genitalia, bloods tests are usually used to determine genetic gender and can work out the level of minerals and hormones so they can be replaces
Genetic testing may be required to determine severity of CAH
Stabilise with IV fluids to restore electrolyte levels
Once stable cortisol and r aldosterone replacement therapy can start with repeated blood test ,monitor hormone levels
