> FSH > mature follicle > produce estrogen > follicle bursts and eggs ovulate > corpus luteum > produces progesterone > either AP shuts off FSH and LH, or turns off ovulation

  • produces hormones that maintain pregnancy, others that help deliver the baby
  • produces human chronic gonadotropin (hCG) with estrogen, progesterone, etc.
  • human placental lactogen (hPL) prepares breasts for lactation
  • relaxin relaxes pelvic ligaments and pubic symphysis for childbirth
