Labia
- Two sets of soft folds of skin inside the Vulva.
- Inner lips (labia minora), Outer lips (labia majora)
Clitoris
Small mound of skin about the size of a pea.
Urethra
A tube through which urine - liquid waste - leaves the body.
Vagina
Passageway from the uterus to the outside of the female body.
(Place where penis fits, tampons fit, blood flows out 1x a month, baby comes out)
Hymen
A thin piece of skin that covers part of the opening to the vagina.
Anus
A small opening through which feces leaves the body
It leaves the female body in the same way that it leaves the male body
Ovaries
- Contain a female’s sex cells (eggs or ova)
- 2 = one on each side of the uterus
Puberty
The time when a body starts to grow and develop into a young body
Fallopian Tubes
Passageways through which an egg travels on its way to the uterus.
(3in, width of a straw)
Uterus
- Made of strong muscles and is hollow inside
- Place where a developing baby (fetus) grows
- Connects both Fallopian tubes to the inside end of the vagina
Cervix
A small opening located in the lower part of the uterus connecting it to the top of the vagina. It stretches when a baby is born.
Travels of the Egg
- Menstruation
- Ovaries produce estrogen, which tells eggs to mature then, about once a month, an egg leaves an ovary and pops into a Fallopian tube, there it waits to travel to uterus then, in the uterus, the egg and lining dissolve and leave.
Vulva
Whole area of soft skin between a female’s legs
