Q

What do the different groups have in common?

A

They all have the same goal: They all want what is best for their people and for Middle Earth in general. They all also have the same enemy: Sauron
It’s the constant theme of good vs. evil. They give up their differences to defeat the enemy and for the greater good.

Q

What is the unifying force of multiculturalism?

A

Our culture has adopted a relativistic view of truth, that all ideas are valid and there is no absolute truth. We have kind of made multiculturalism a god of our society, and it seems to have become the absolute in culture. Us Christians are not against unity and we should be loud and vigorous opponents of real racism and biases.

Q

What does the culture have to offer in terms of creating true community from diversity? Where is the problem with this view?

A

We all have different ideas and beliefs, and they want us all to be right. But that doesn’t logically work. It makes us clash. In summary: Our culture is trying to create unity without an absolute truth that is constant and unchanging.

Q

What implication concerning the formation of true community from diversity is there in the Great Commission?

A

The key words in this passage is “all nations”. Everyone from every tribe, nation, background, and ethnicity should be given the chance to have the faith that we do. They should have just as much of a chance as we do.

Q

What do we learn from Revelation 5:9 about the creation of community from diverse groups?

A

Those who were ransomed by God were “from every tribe and language and people and nation.” It was for everyone; all diversities, all tongues, all peoples, and all nations. From everywhere over all the earth. We were made into one kingdom under Christ. God is the only one capable of creating a community and union that we have as Christians.
