What is popular piety?
A form of devotion or NON-liturgical worship
What is the difference between popular piety and liturgical worship
-Popular piety is not part of the official public liturgy of the Catholic Church and does not follow a strict pattern or worship set out by the church. e.g Praying the Rosary, making pilgrimages to holy sites, or observing personal devotions like the Stations of the Cross outside of Mass.
What is the significance of the Rosary as a form of popular piety(Catholics)
-Used both in the church and privately
-Helps Catholics meditate on the grace of God
Allows them to focus on parts of Jesus’ life through the different prayers said
-Praying the Rosary is a way of going to Christ through Mary
The Rosary as a form of popular piety(Non-Catholics)
Some Anglicans also use it as a form of private devotion but would use different prayers because they are not comfortable praying to Mary.

there are 14 stations that follow the the passion and death of christ
They reflect Jesus’ sacrifice and suffering

Some Anglican or Methodists focus on the stations of the cross during Holy week
What is Eucharistic adoration?
When the Blessed Sacrament is put on a monstrance adored and worshipped
What is a monstrance and what is it used for?
A decorative frame used to hold and display the consecrated host and is used during Eucharistic Adoration
Why is Eucharistic Adoration important to Catholics?
They believe that the bread and wine not only represents the body and blood of Christ but that Christ is truly present within the bread and wine when it has been consecrated

What is a way to perform Eucharistic Adoration
Genuflecting on one knee towards the Eucharist(even when kept in the tabernacle) which usually occurs when you walk to the alter, leave or enter church.
