After the duplication is finished, select the copied Event and choose File > Organize Event Files to copy all media into the Event folder.

A disk image (.img) file is a useful way to archive Events and projects within a container that simulates a volume from a hard disk. With good media management practice in Final Cut Pro X, the disk image should contain everything necessary for editing those projects.
