After completing Lesson 11 in Apple Pro Training Series: Final Cut Pro X (2nd Edition), “Applying Effects and Enhancing Color,” you should be able to complete the following tasks. Four items from this lesson are included in the pool of Level One exam questions; two items from this lesson are included in the pool of Associate Level exam questions. Describe two ways to apply a video or audio effect.
Select one or more clips in the Timeline. Then, in the Effects Browser, double-click an effect thumbnail. You can also drag an effect from Effect Browser to modify one clip at a time.
How do you view and disable effects applied to Timeline
clips?
Select the clip in the Timeline. Click the Inspector button in the toolbar, or press Command-4. Click the Video tab, if necessary. To disable an effect, deselect the blue checkbox next to the effects you don’t want to view.
How do you modify the priority of effects applied to project clips?
With the clip selected in the Timeline, in the Video Inspector, drag the effect title bar above or below another effect.
How do you delete effects from a project clip?
To remove a single effect, click its name in the Inspector and press Delete. To remove contiguous effects, click the top effect, Shift-click the bottom effect, and press Delete. To remove two or more noncontiguous effects, click one effect, Command-click the additional effects, and press Delete.
How do you copy a customized effect from one clip to other
clips in the Timeline?
Select the clip with the custom effect and choose Edit > Copy, or press Command-C. Now select one or more clips in the Timeline and choose Edit > Paste Attributes to select from a list of parameters and effects that are on the source clip.
How do you activate the onscreen controls in the Viewer to modify an effect?
Select the clip in the Timeline, and in the Video Inspector, select the effect you want to adjust. Onscreen controls that allow you to adjust parameters, such as Center Point, will appear in the Viewer.
How do you create duplicates of a clip so you can audition multiple versions of effects?
Select the clip in the Timeline, and from the menu bar, choose Clip > Audition > Duplicate as Audition, or press Option-Y. Then click the Audition spotlight next to the clip name to open the Audition window.
