Define Common Carriage
Common law term
You are a common carrier when you hold out (advertise) as willing to fly for compensation or hire. 4 criteria must be met
1. holding out/advertising with a willingness to
2. transport persons/property
3. from place to place
4. for compensation
Where can you find of list of conditions that would disqualify you from obtaining a second-class medical certificate?
FAR part 67, there are 15 medical conditions that are disqualifying
What time is a commercial pilot REQUIRED to log?
The only flight time required to be logged is flight time used to meet the recent flight experience requirements or to apply for a certificate or rating, or privilege.
What planes require a type rating?
Large aircraft (MTOW greater than 12,500 lbs)
Turbojet-powered airplanes
other aircraft specified by the Administrator through aircraft type certificate procedures.
When would a high alt. endorsement be required?
Acting as PIC of an aircraft that has a service ceiling or maximum operating altitude, whichever is lower, above 25,000 feet MSL
Are there any requirements to act as PIC of a TAA?
No. But you’re encouraged to get specific training with new avionics
What does a flight review consist of and when is one necessary?
1 hour flight & 1 hour ground training.
You review the operations for your “part”, part 91 flight rules, and flight maneuver review, safe operations, get a log book endorsement
must occur within 24 calendar months
What is private carriage?
Carriage for hire which does not involve “holding out” is private carriage. This is typically for one or several selected customers generally on a long-term basis.
