Initially, 20mg every 6 hours (QID), Doses up to 160mg every 6 hours (QID) have been used in patients with severe Zollinger-Ellison syndrome.

How is Pepcid dosage adjusted for patients with severe renal insufficiency?
In patients with a Car less than 10mL/min, decrease dose to 20mg at bedtime or increase dosing interval to every other day.
What are the adverse effects of Pepcid?
Headache, dizziness, constipation, diarrhea, transient irritation at injection site
What are the drug interactions of Famotidine?
May decrease warfarin clearance.
For who is Pepcid contraindicated/precautioned?
- Contraindicated in patients hypersensitive to famotidine.
- Use with caution in patients with impaired renal function. In patients with a creatinine clearance less than 10mL/min, decrease dose to 20mg at bedtime or increase dosing interval to QOD.
- Use with caution when pregnant or lactating.
