CATEGORY OF FAMILY consisting of:
- married couple (or a divorces/ widowed parent) with unmarried children
- married couple w/o children
Nuclear family
CATEGORY OF FAMILY consisting of:
- number of nuclear families linked together by virtue of kinship bond with parents and children
- families of orientation are merged with families of procreation
Extended family
CATEGORY OF FAMILY consisting of:
2 or more generations w/ each generation composed of 1 married couple (or a divorced person, widow/ widower)
Lineal families
CATEGORY OF FAMILY consisting of:
-2 or more married couples of same generation
Joint families
CATEGORY OF FAMILY consisting of:
- 1 or both parents had a previous marriage and possibly children from that marriage
Blended family

Adoptive family

1 or more children (not natural) that stays with the family for an extended period through a special govt agency
Foster family

- boundary between integral family and those of extended family is clear
- husband and wife has dual roles and involved in executive and managerial roles
