19th December the remaining rebels had a minor fight with Sir John Foster’s army - causing the earls to escape.
where did Northumberland go?
he fled to Scotland in hope of finding support from someone, but instead was handed over to England.
Where did Westmorland go?
he escaped to the continent but was in exile for the wrest of his life.
was the capture of Northumberland and the exile of Westmorland the end to Elizabeth’s worries?
no, Lord Dacre travelled to London during the rebellion and professed his loyalty to the Queen, and he was allowed to return to his estates. however it was there where he set up an army of 3,000 men.
what did queen Elizabeth do when hearing new of lord Dacre’s army?
order his arrest on February 15th
what happened when Lord Hunsdon was sent to arrest him?
he was attacked by Dacre’s army, however Hunsdon won and 500 rebels were killed / arrested.
what happened to Lord Dacre?
he managed to flee to the continent and remain in exile much like Westmorland.
what did Queen Elizabeth do with Dacre’s and Westmorland’s estates?
