What is authoritarian personality?
-A person who has a tendency to follow an authority figures orders even if it does hurt someone.
How does authoritarian personality?
People will be more prejudice.
What is social dominance orientation?
-Believes in hierarchies and believe they are above other groups of people/
How does social dominance orientation effect prejudice?
Increases prejudice levels.
What is the big 5?
Openness, conscientiousness, extraversion, agreeableness and neuroticism.
How does the big 5 effect prejudice?
-The less open someone is the more prejudice they are.
-The less agreeable someone is the more prejudice they are.
-The more conscientiousness are person is the more prejudice they are.
How does Lippa and Arad support authoritarian personality and SDO?
-Mostly men were shown to be higher in authoritarian personality which correlated with homophobia.
-SDO individuals, mostly women, strongly correlated with prejudice attitudes towards gender inequality.
What is social norms?
An unwritten rule which is normal to people in a society or how to act in a certain situation.
What is the difference between a collectivist and individualist culture?
C- Wellbeing of group is more important than the individual.
I- Individual is prioritised over the group.
What is a multiculturalism culture?
The existence of multiple cultural traditions within a single area.
How does a multiculturalism culture effect prejudice?
Increases-A person thinks their culture is better therefore influencing social comparison, causing more prejudice.
Which culture is more likely to be more prejudice and why?
Collectivist culture because it is a larger in-group and everyone else is the out-group who are not in that specific culture.
