individualistic - focus on developing personal autonomy so more likely to resist conforming and compliance

collectivist - they behave based on interdependance in persuit of group goals so they would have high levels of obedience

behviours vary across cultures due to the process of socialisation

  • the average obedience in US was 60.94% and in other countries 65.94% which is very similar

A

momentum of complience - tasks start small but requests increase so feel they have to continue

proximity - the closer the authority figure the higher the obedience

status of authority - higher obedience with legitimate authority

personal responsibility - more obedient in a situation where personal responsibility is removed and placed on authority figure
