Factorising Flashcards
1
Q
What’s the first step to factorising an equation?
A
Find the highest common factor of all the numbers
2
Q
What’s the second step to factorising an equation?
A
Divide all the numbers by the highest common factor
3
Q
How do you layout your answer?
A
You put the HCF outside the brackets then place the answers from the division in the brackets.
4
Q
Example of factorising;
A
2x+4=
HCF= 2
2/2x=x
2/4=2
2x+4= 2(x+2)
5
Q
How can you double check if your answer is correct?
A
Expand the brackets and you should get the same equation
6
Q
What do you do if the HCF is everything?
A
Change it to 1
