During world war one man was conscripted to fight abroad (from 1916) and women did many of the jobs the men left behind e.g munitions factories.any man over the age of 17 was expected to fight This meant that 19 year olds were expected to fight for their country but returned home with no rights.
In february 1918 (near the end of world war one) all men over 21 gained the vote and some women over 30

A

Political advantage was a more important factor as politicians felt the need to award the vote to stop the threat of the suffragettes to continue their violent methods of campaigning.

Many historians argue that the vote for women was already given before the war due to the suffragettes. Thus showing that political advantage was a more important factor.
