What is the application area?
- “taping area”.
Facility space dedicated to taping, wrapping, bracing and padding techniques.
What is the goal of ergonomics?
To provide an efficient, healthful, and safe working environment.
What should be considered when planning a facility?
- Current and future program needs (number of individuals requiring treatment, available time and staff, long range plans)
- Structural considerations (table designs, storage areas, floor, wall, electrical, etc.)
What should be considered with tables/benches?
- Use multiple individual tables in areas without space constraints and custom-made tables in areas with limited space.
- Accommodate for different heights of professionals.
- Table tops should be durable and easy to clean.
What should be considered with storage?
- Tape (cool moisture free environment, store in original box, limit to a 1 year period).
- Braces (ventilated moisture free area).
- Pads (cool dry area).
What should be considered with the flooring?
- Cosmetic and sanitary concern.
- Lessen soiling and damage to floor (non-slip).
What should be considered with the walls?
- Cinder block, drywall, or tile.
- Use paint that will resist moisture.
What should be considered with the ceiling?
- Easy to clean.
- Height to provide clearance for standing individuals.
What should be considered with electrical?
- Outlets every 4 feet on walls and about 3-4 feet off the floor.
- Equip all outlets with ground fault interrupter breakers.
What should be considered with ventilation?
- Maintenance of temperature and humidity.
- Termostat placement.
- Supplemental/portable air conditioners, heaters or fans.
