Livostin eye drops
Ingredients: Levocabastine 0.05%
Indication: Allergic conjunctivitis (ocular antihistamine)
Instructions: > 6 years, 1 drop both eyes BD
Ocular saline wash
Ingredients: Saline
Indication: allergic conjunctivitis
Instructions: 1 drop both eyes BD
Symptomatic relief viral conjunctivitis
Symptomatic treatment only
- Cold compress to the affected eyes
- Lubricating eye drop Q1H if needed
- Simple analgesia
- Avoid bright lights
Chlorsig eye drops
Ingredients: Chloramphenicol 0.5%
Indication: bacterial conjunctivitis
Instructions: 1 drop affected eye Q2H for first 48 hours –> Then 1 drop QID for a further 5 days. Treatment for continue for at least 2 days after the eye appears normal.
If no improvement after the second day –> Refer to Dr
Chlorsig eye ointment
Ingredients: Chloramphenicol 0.5%
Indication: bacterial conjunctivitis
Instructions: Apply a 1.5 cm strip to lower eyelid TDS for 5 to 7 days
Systane Eye drops
Ingredients: Polyethylene glycol
Indications: dry eyes/ocular lubricant
Instructions: 1 drop every 1 to 2 hours PRN (may be used as often as needed)
Genteal Eye Drops or Gel
Ingredients: Hypromellose 0.3% or Hypromellose 0.3%/Carbomer 980
Indications: Ocular lubricant containing least-irritant preservative
Instructions: 1 drop every 1 to 2 hours PRN or apply ointment at night along lower eye lid
OTC products suitable for people with contact lens
Refresh contact eye drops (carmellose) Bio Tears (preservative-free single use containers)
Management of stye
Pharmacological management not indicated
May try a hot compress
- Place a warm compress on the affected eyelid for 10 to 20 minutes at least TDS to QID to assist with drainage
Lid hygiene for blepharitis
