Why is the HEART an organ?
Because it consists of different tissues
- *muscle tissue AND
- *nerves (which activate contraction)

What is the shape of the heart?
Coned shape
broad base above and apex pointing down
What is the COLOUR of the heart?
Dark red
What is the size of the heart?
Size of a closed fist

What is the WHITE material on the outside of the heart?
FAT
What are the blood vessels called on the OUTSIDE of the heart?
AND
What are their function?
Heart arteries and veins (coronary)
Function: transports blood to and from the heart muscle
Why does the heart mostly consist of muscles?
It must PUMP blood to the body and lungs
Why do the lungs feel spongy when you touch them?
It is sacks filled with air
What safety measures dd you take during the examination of the heart and lungs?
don’t cut your hands
How did you safely dispose (get rid) of the sheep’s heart after the dissection?
Boil it and throw away
