S/S: rapid onset well demarc. patch of red, hot and burn. pain, rapidly extend. size; change in color of patch fr bright red to dull red in sev. days and then heal with desquamation.

T: yellow, sticky coat

2) Erysipelas: Invasion of pathogenic factors into the interior: pts:

specif: du 14, 12 jng wells, P 8
S/S: stabbing pain of affected skin, becoming erythematous, patches of blisters evolve, forming a band-like distribution. Blisters are thick-walled, contents transparent initially, then turbid in 5-6 days. Resolving after decrustation w/o scar in 10 days. Pain may last longer.

S/S: Boil on head, face or extremity appears like a grain of millet in yellow or purple colour. A blister or pustula w/hard base is, usually accomp. by tingling. Later increased red., swell/pain w/burning sens., often accomp by C/F. Sometimes a red thread-like line extends proxi if the boil toxicity attacks the interior, high fever, restless, dizzi, vomit, impaired conscious
T: red with yellow coating.

S/S: Red, swell, pain of breast, mostly occur after delivery. early stage when the abscess not yet formed, lump in the breast accomp by swell, distent, pain, diffic lactat, C/F, HA, nausea, and dire thirst. Growth of the lump w/local bright redness and intermit throb pain indic suppuration.
4) Breast Abscess: pts:
G 2I, Ren 17, S 18, S 36, SI 1, Liv 3
Suppl points:
C/F: LI 4, SJ 5
Dist. and pain of breast: G 41
S/S: At onset sudden paroxysmal pain in upper abd/umbilicus. pain becomes continuous/localized in the right low abd near (S 25), accomp by tenderness, mild contracture of the abd wall, difficulty in extension of the right leg, F/C,N/V, constip, dk urine, thin. If pain is severe and there is contracture of the abd wall with marked tender. or palpable mass, accomp by high fever and spont sweating, forceful and rapid pulse, the condition is serious.
T: thin, sticky and yellow
P: rapid and forceful
5) Intestinal Abscess: pts:
S 25, LI 11, Lanwei (Extra), S 37
Suppl. points:
Fever: Du 14, L1 4, Vomiting: P 6, Ren 12
S/S: Qi goiter is marked by diffus swell in neck, soft, grad increasing size w/unclear margins, nl colour, absence of pain; in some cases big, droopy, accomp w/dyspnea and hoarse voice. size of the goiter usually changes with emotions.
Flesh goiter often occurs in individuals below forty , more freq in women than in men, a few oval movable lumps below the Adam’s Apple with smooth surface and w/o pain, accomp by exophthalmos, hot temper, irrit, hand tremor, sweat, stuffiness in the chest, palp, irreg mens.
P: string-taut, slippery and rapid
6) Goiter: pts:
SJ 13, LI 17, SI 17, Ren 22, LI 4, S 36
Suppl points:
Liver-qi stag: Ren 17, Liv 3
Palp: P 6, H 7
Exophthalmos: SJ 23, B 2, B l, G 20
Hot temper, anxiety and sweating: Sp 6 and K 7
S/S: Local swelling and pain, red or ecchymosis. A new injury is sl swollen w/tenderness. Lg area of swelling together w/motor impairment of joints is found in serious cases. Old injury is characterized by absence of marked swelling but repeated recurrence due to invasion of exog patho wind, cold and damp. The injury mostly happens in the shoulder, elbow, wrist, back, hip, knee, and ankle.
7) Sprain and Contusion: pts:
Du 14, B l0, SI 14, G 39, SI 3
B 60 and L 7 inability of flexion and extension.
SI 7 difficulty in rotating the neck
Cupping after needling, or Laozhen (Extra) for stiff neck.
