Extent and rate of reaction 4 Flashcards
1
Q
Describe alkene stability.
A
- Trans are more stable than cis
- Adding hydrogen gives a 2 kjmol-1 difference
- Meaning cis is higher in energy and less stable
2
Q
Describe amide stability.
A
- Trans and are stable than cis
- Rotation is slow, due to delocalisation but due to size of R we get a mixture of both compounds to be present
3
Q
How can we calculate K for amides.
A
K = [amide with R groups (trans)]/[amide with R groups (cis)]
4
Q
Equation linking equilibrium constant and energy.
A
ΔG= -RTlnK
