What are the three type’s of loads to keep in mind when choosing fasteners?
Tensions load (pulling directly out from the load material, perpendicular to parallel) Shear load (the strength of the fastener from shearing where it enters the load material) Bending load (A shear load is applied at a distance from the load material which causes a leverage force on the fasteners)

0.5 inch from the edge and 2inch between fasteners

No you should not due to the fact that pre stressed in under tension and if crack it could be amplified with the pre existing forces
