Locus Control

A

Rotter (1966)
first introduced the concept of locus of control, which distinguishes between internal and external control

What is it?

Internals believe they are in control of what happens to them.
For example, if they do well in an exam, they attribute it to their own hard work.

externals tend to believe that events are outside of their control and to do with fate.
If they perform well in an exam, they might attribute it to luck, a good teacher, or even wearing a lucky bracelet. If they fail, they might blame bad luck or difficult questions.
