What is Informational Social Influence? (ISI)
The desire to be right. This occurs when we look to the majority group for information as we are unsure how to behave. people conform as they believe majority to be right.
For example: You’re in a class and everyone stands up, you’re the only one sitting down, you look to the majority and stand up as you believe they’re right and that you need to be stood up.
What Is Normative Social Influence?
Conforming because you want to be liked. Going along with the group even though we may disagree. following the crowd to fit in with the ‘norm’ and to be liked by the group.
An example: Going to a party even though you have no interest but all your friends are you going.
