Explanations Of Attachment: Learning Theory Flashcards
What is the learning theory of attachment
Classical and operant conditioning
What does the learning theory of attachment suggest
That attachment is a set of learnt behaviours instead of innate biological behaviour.
What is classical conditioning
where an infant learns to associate the caregiver with comfort and eventually forms an attachment.
What is operant conditioning
Assumes that infants are in a drive state of internal tension or discomfort, and their actions focus on removing this discomfort.
Pavlov: Before conditioning
UCS -> UCR

Pavlov: during conditioning
NS + UCS -> UCR
(Bell) (Food) (Salvation)
Pavlov: after conditioning
CS -> CR
