He studied children attending the child guidance clinic who were emotionally maladjusted.
There were 88 children; 44 of which had been caught stealing; the other 44 were used as a control group
Some of the thieves had been diagnosed as affectionless psychopaths

A

86% of the affectionless psychopaths had frequent early separations from their mothers
This shows that prelonged maternal deprivation does have an impact on emotional development later in life and supports bowlbys theory of the critical period and how vital that is
