Field experiments are conducted in a real-life setting. The researcher manipulates the IV, but since participants are in their natural setting, many extravenous variables cannot be controlled. Ecological validity will end up being high, but due to not being able to control the CV, the internal validity is expected to be undesirably lower.

Natural experiments are conducted in participants natural environment, and researchers have no control over the IV as it occurred by itself. Thus the ecological validity is high, but as CV variables are uncontrollable, the internal is going to be low
