Experiment types Flashcards
1
Q
Quasi-experiment
A
A Quasi-experiment is similar to a true experiment, except that participants are assigned into a control group and treatment/experiment group based on a inter-group difference. Pre-existing differences in one variable may be accompanied by a difference in an unexpected CV. Thus no cause-and-effect inferences can be made or it can be hard.
The IV isnt manipulated, so a change in the DV could be really caused by a CV
2
Q
True experiment
A
In true experiment the control group and the experiment group are assigned randomly, taking all variables into consideration, thus enabling a cause-and-effect inference to be made
