What does the Animals Act in the UK state?
Animal research should only take place in licensed labs with licensed researchers on licensed projects
When is an animal research licence granted?
Results are important enough to justify using animals, research cannot be done using non-animal methods, a minimum number of animals are used, and discomfort is kept to a minimum
