Q

properties of water

A

RESISTANCE- 12x more than air, depends on surface area, speed of movement, and ROM
TURBULENCE- pressure is greatest in front of moving body
BUOYANCY- lessened effect of gravity, depends on how deep you are (reduced by 90% at neck), reduces amount of shock in bones, joints, and ligaments
THERMAL CONDUCTIVITY- dissipates heat with less strain on circulatory system, 25x faster than air
HYDROSTATIC PRESSURE- compression on veins facilitates blood flow, heart becomes a more efficient pump, lower blood pressure, reduced swelling
