Exercise Flashcards
Exercise
Increase in skeletal muscle activity
- Increase in ATP demand, Increase in fuel supply to working muscles
- Increase in O2 supply to working muscles.
- Increase Removal waste
Myosin Kinase and Creatine Kinase
Myosin Kinase: Uses 2 ADP -> ATP
Creatine Kinase: Use phosphate from creatine phosphate to make ATP
WHat is the cardiovascular responses during exercise
- Cardiac output (CO) increases during exercise
- CO = HR (heart rate) x SV (stroke volume) - Redistribution of blood flow
- Vasodilation of blood vessels
- Increased extraction at tissues
What hormones increase during exercise?
Glucagon, coritol, catecholamines, and growth hormones
What promotes conversion of triglycerides to glycerol and fatty acid
Cortisol, catecholamines, growth hormones.
Why is insulin secretion suppressed during exercise?
Cells other than muscle fibers reduce glucose uptake
Actively-contracting muscle cells do not require insulin for glucose uptake
What to kidneys goes through
Kidneys undergo gluconeogenesis
