Excretion Flashcards
Define Excretion
Its the process in which the waste is released from the body in the right amount
Give examples of Catabolic and Anabolic activities
Catabolic: Tissue Respiration, Deamination of proteins and amino acids to form urea.
Anabolic: Formation of new protoplasm from amino acids, Glucose>Glycogen in liver and muscles
Explain catabolic and anabolic activities in terms of molecular breaking and forming
In catabolic activities, the breakdown of molecules is done (complex>simple) whereas in anabolic, the formation of molecules is done (simple>complex)
What does metabolic activity produce?
It produces waste products that must me removed
Differentiate between Egestion and Excretion
Egestion: Removal of undigested waste from alimentary canal, matter egested is feces and the organs involved are: anus and sometimes the mouth
Excretion: Metabolic waste products and toxic materials are removed from the organs (sweat), matter excreted is sweat, urine and carbon dioxide and the organs involved are: the urethra, skin or the mouth
