Q

What are some excertion methods?

A
  1. Urine
  2. Inhalation and exhalation (anesthestics)

Q

What happens in filteration?

A

1.The drug moves through the afferent arterial to the glomerulus by glomerulus hydrostatic pressure so the drugs can be filtered across bowmans capsule via filteration from the bowman capsule it will then go to the proximal convulted tubule
2.If a patient has kidney disease there is a increase in the glomerulus fileration rate which which also decreases the filteration of the drug but the serum concentration is increase so it causes toxic side effects
3.If more protein bound drug bind to the albumin there is a decrease in the filteration in the drugs and a increase in the serum concentration resulting in toxic side effects again (But there is there is less albumin which means less protein bound drugs bind to it there will not be toxic side effects.

Q

What happens in secretion?

A
  1. Drugs move through the afferent arterial to the glomerulus, some drugs are filtered to the bowman’s capsule and the other move through the efferent arterial and down to the peritubular capillary
  2. The drugs wants to go across the kidneyy tubular cells into the lumen of kidney only drugs that are small, non-polar, lipid soluble and hydrophobic are able to just go through via passive diffusion
  3. A drug that is polar, water souble, hydrophilic and large cant go through so it needs ATP and organic anion & ion transporters for it to get to the lumen and be excreted.

Q

Whats happens in reabsorbtion?

A
  1. First part like secretion, then the moves down the descending loop of henle and up the ascending loop to the distal convoluted tubule
  2. Small, polar, hydrophobic drugs can goi through into the bloodstream then sent to the liver which will undergo phase 1&2 making it more polar for excretion so it can no longer be reabsorbed.

Q

What happens in modify excretion?

A
  1. asprin is a weak acid drug HA reverisble reaction symbol A the polar molecules will be excreted
  2. For the excretion to happen there is a decrease in protons and the urine is alkained so the reaction is shifted making it more polar for excretion.
