Autonomic nervous system Flashcards

1
Q

What does the Nervous system consists of and what are neurons use neurotransmitters?

A

1.CNS and Periphal
2.Cholinergic neurons use neurotransmitter such as acetylcholine to send messages
3.Adrenergic neurons use neurotransmitter such as Nonephrine and epinehrine send messages

Q

Where is the sympathetic located and what is its role?

A
  1. Located in the thoracic and lumbar of the spinal cord
  2. They are proganglione neuronsthta come from the sc (they are short abd release acetylcholine)
  3. Cause dilation of pupils, increase in HR, relexation of airways and urinary bladder

Q

Where is the parasympathetic loacted and what is its role?

A
  1. Responsible for rest and digest and is located in the cranial nerves 3,7,9 and 10 as well as the s2-s4 in the sacral
  2. They are long and release acetylcholine and cause constrition of dilation, airways and slow HR

Q

What are the 2 receptors and what do they do?

A
  1. Nicotinic receptor work as an ion channel
  2. Muscarnic receptor are linked to g proteins and cause pupils to constrict.

Q

What are the three neurons?

A
  1. Afferent- carry signals to the CNS from sensory receptors in the periphal tissues
  2. Efferent- carry signals from CNS to muscles
  3. Intermeurons- in between both and they intergrate info that flows between the 2
