Autonomic nervous system Flashcards
1
Q
What does the Nervous system consists of and what are neurons use neurotransmitters?
A
1.CNS and Periphal
2.Cholinergic neurons use neurotransmitter such as acetylcholine to send messages
3.Adrenergic neurons use neurotransmitter such as Nonephrine and epinehrine send messages
2
Q
Where is the sympathetic located and what is its role?
A
- Located in the thoracic and lumbar of the spinal cord
- They are proganglione neuronsthta come from the sc (they are short abd release acetylcholine)
- Cause dilation of pupils, increase in HR, relexation of airways and urinary bladder
3
Q
Where is the parasympathetic loacted and what is its role?
A
- Responsible for rest and digest and is located in the cranial nerves 3,7,9 and 10 as well as the s2-s4 in the sacral
- They are long and release acetylcholine and cause constrition of dilation, airways and slow HR
4
Q
What are the 2 receptors and what do they do?
A
- Nicotinic receptor work as an ion channel
- Muscarnic receptor are linked to g proteins and cause pupils to constrict.
5
Q
What are the three neurons?
A
- Afferent- carry signals to the CNS from sensory receptors in the periphal tissues
- Efferent- carry signals from CNS to muscles
- Intermeurons- in between both and they intergrate info that flows between the 2
