Denotative meaning
Literal dictionary meaning of the word
Connotative meaning
Cultural meaning associated behind the word
Subject
Clausal constituent about which something is stated. Eg- THE MAN is tall
Predicate
Part of the sentence that provides information about the subject. Eg - the man IS TALL
Independent ( main ) clause
Sentence which can stand on its own. Eg - heavy things fall quickly
