Exam Questions Flashcards
Did women get the vote because of their contribution to the war? Why
Yes, for the reasons that they do not have the vote is because they are viewed to be unable to make important decisions and strong, labor work. However because of the war they have proven to be able to do their husbands jobs and literally put their trousers on. This completely counter attacks their reasons to why women should have the vote. Furthermore the men accepted that they were unable to win the war without the women so the vote might have been a reward.
What was the better method suffragettes and suffragettes?
I think the most effective group for the suffragettes because their methods were the ones who grabbed the public’s attention and was the group who were the front headlines in newspapers.
Why didn’t woman get the vote before the war?
Woman didn’t get the vote before the war because of the suffragettes violence. The men might have thought why would we allow women to vote when they act so terribly and violent. When they act out of their place and have no respect for private property. When hard-working middle-class women become utter disgraces as they defy policemen.
Was Emily Davison’s death accidental or suicide?
I think Emily Davison’s death was in fact accident. If her stunt was successful it would gain massive publicity for the suffragettes but when she died people thought that it was ridiculous if they give the vote to women if they are suicidal so it didn’t help the suffragettes cause. She was at the one and only angle that would bring her down and the horse down showing that it was an accident furthermore she might not know that the horse would jump over her. And she may have misjudged the speed of the horse or she was injured she may not thought it would be fatal. Also when she attempted to attach it onto the Kings horse, she ducked under the fence in four seconds. Is it really possible that she was quick enough to recognise the Kings horse?
