Describe two features of the problems caused by alcohol in Whitechapel?

Answer 1

1. Alcohol was widely used in Whitechapel due to many people living hard uncomfortable lives and alcohol meant they could forget their problems it didn’t help that alcohol was cheap and widely available.
2. Another factor was the fact that there were many pubs offering alcohol which also provided warmth and food. Also there were many ‘gin places’, their bright lights and big windows were enticing to many.
