Exam one: Flashcards
What is the standard unit of measure used to describe electrical charge for and electrical stimulation device?
Coulomb
Highboy tank:
Immersion of larger body parts. The length of the highboy tank does not permit a patient to fully extend the lower extremities in sitting.
Lowboy Tank:
Is designed for immersion of larger body parts. The lowboy tank permits a patient to fully extend the lower extremities in sitting, however the depth is significantly less than highboy
Hubbard tank:
Full body immersion
Modified plantigrade:
standing for postural stability and dynamic control of trunk and all 4 extremities. Weight bearing through UE & LE for proprioceptive feedback while maintaining balance and control.
Normal respiration rate for adults?
is 12-18 breaths per minute.
Intrarater reliability?
measurements made by one individual
Interrater reliability?
Measurements made by two or more individuals who measure the same group of subjects and the reproducibility.
What age should an infant begin to sit with hand support for an extended period of time?
6-7 months
Athetosis:
Extraneous and involuntary movements. Alterations in muscle tone: movements may look wormlike with a rotatory component evident.
L4 spinal level for deep tendon reflex would provide information on what?
Patellar reflex
Adson maneuver; Allen test
A positive test is indicated by an absent of diminished radial pulse and may be indicative of thoracic outlet syndrome.
Speeds test:
Therapist places one hand over the bicipital groove and the other hand over the velar surface of supinated forearm. The PT resists active shoulder flexion. Positive test is indicated by pain or tenderness in the bicipital groove region. Indicative of bicipital tendonities.
Yergasons Test
Patient in sitting with 90 degrees of elbow flexion and forearm pronated. The humerus is stabilized against the Pt’s thorax. The PT places one hand on the patines forearm and the o there hand over the bicipital groove. The patient is directed to actively supinate and laterally rotate against resistance. A positive test is indicated by pain or tenderness in bicipital groove.
Drop arm test:
Arm in 90 degrees of abduction. Pt is asked to slowly lower the arm to their side. Positive test is indicated by the patients failing to slowly lower the arm to their side or by the presence of severe pain and may be indicative of a tear in the rotator cuff.
