Q

Highboy tank:

A

Immersion of larger body parts. The length of the highboy tank does not permit a patient to fully extend the lower extremities in sitting.

Q

Lowboy Tank:

A

Is designed for immersion of larger body parts. The lowboy tank permits a patient to fully extend the lower extremities in sitting, however the depth is significantly less than highboy

Q

Speeds test:

A

Therapist places one hand over the bicipital groove and the other hand over the velar surface of supinated forearm. The PT resists active shoulder flexion. Positive test is indicated by pain or tenderness in the bicipital groove region. Indicative of bicipital tendonities.

Q

Yergasons Test

A

Patient in sitting with 90 degrees of elbow flexion and forearm pronated. The humerus is stabilized against the Pt’s thorax. The PT places one hand on the patines forearm and the o there hand over the bicipital groove. The patient is directed to actively supinate and laterally rotate against resistance. A positive test is indicated by pain or tenderness in bicipital groove.

Q

Drop arm test:

A

Arm in 90 degrees of abduction. Pt is asked to slowly lower the arm to their side. Positive test is indicated by the patients failing to slowly lower the arm to their side or by the presence of severe pain and may be indicative of a tear in the rotator cuff.

16
Q

Hawkins- Kennedy impingement test:

A

PT flexes the Pt’s shoulder to 90 degrees and then medially rotates the arm. A positive test is indicated by pain and my be indicative of shoulder impingement involving the supraspinatus tendon.

17
Q

Neer impingement test.

A

PT positions one hand on posterior aspect of the pt’s scapula and other hand stabilizing the elbow. The PT elevates the pt’s arm through flexion. A positive test is indicated by facial grimace or pain; indicative of shoulder impingement involving the supraspinatus tendon.

18
Q

Tinel’s sign:

A

Pt is positioned in sitting with elbow in slight lexicon. PT taps with the index finger between the olecranon process and medial epicondyle. A positive test is indicated by a tingling sensation in the ulnar nerve distribution of the forearm, and and fingers. May indicative of ulnar nerve compression or compromise. May also indicative of carpal tunnel syndrome due to median nerve compression.

19
Q

Obers test:

A

Moving pt’s leg into hip extension and abduction and then attempts to lower the leg towards the table in side lying.

20
Q

Ely’s test:

A

Prone: active hip flexion occurring simultaneously with passive knee flexion.

21
Q

Faber Test:

A

Supine: figure 4; one hand placed on the ASIS while other hand is placed the the medial knee pressing downward toward table.

22
Q

Craig’s test:

A

Pt in prone with the knee flexed to 90 degrees. PT palpates the posterior aspect of the greater trochanter and medially and laterally rotates the hip until the greater trochanter is parallel with the table. Normal ante version for an adult is 8-15 degrees.

23
Q

Thompson Test:

A

Pt in prone with feet extended over the edge of table the therapist squeezes the mm belly of the gastrocnemius and soles mm. Positive test indicated by absence of plantar flexion and may be indicative of ruptured achilles tendon.
