Oculomotor function (saccades, smooth pursuits, convergence)
Binocular vision (eye alignment, accommodation)
Cognitive component of vision:
Visual perception
Visual attention

What is the presentation of Age-related Macular Degeneration?
Central vision loss
What are the 4 most common eye diseases?
- Age-related macular degeneration (leading cause of vision loss in older adults)
- Glaucoma
- Diabetic retinopathy
- Cataract
How can you address Macular Degeneration?
Scotoma (blind spots) awareness training
Eccentric viewing: after teaching them ^, they can use unaffected areas of vision, areas around their fovea.
What causes Glaucoma
Pressure within the eye = optic nerve damage.
Presents with Peripheral vision loss.
Best way to improve environment for low vision?
Add lighting–”natural spectrum lighting” is the best option
