Rounded binary form
Binary form is a simple binary form when the beginning of the second section returns to the tonic. This return to the tonic is mainly to give closure too the tonic.
Sonata form
The sonata form is a expansion of the rounded binary form consisting of expositions, development, and recaptulation. Another word for this is the first movement form.
Exposition
The exposition is the first section of a piece that introduces the theme or idea that would be used throughout the piece. Sometimes variety would be added throughout
Transition
The term for the small passage between two sections, could also be used in between modulations.
Development
The idea of developing the theme or idea slowly or restating it throughout the piece.
Retransition
A passage that leads to the dominant, while also preparing to go to the tonic.
Recapitulation
When we are brought back to the tonic of the piece. Hayden does this very slowly and unexpectedly
Slow-movement sonata form
In Hayden’s second movements in a sonata, he would typically write calm and peaceful music, often to contrast the dramatic and the expectancy of his works prior. these works contained rondo form, variations and themes.
