Exam 2 - Muscles of UE Flashcards
Pectoralis major m. - origin/ proximal
clavicular head:
- anterior surface of medial half of clavicle
sternocostal head:
- anterior surface of sternum
- superior 6 costal cartilages
- aponeurosis of external oblique muscles
Pectoralis major m.- insertion/ distal
lateral lip of intertubercular sulcus of humerus
Pectoralis major m. - innervation
- lateral and medial pectoral n.’s
- clavicular head (C5, C6)
- sternocostal head (C7, C8, T1)
Pectoralis major m. - action
- adducts and medially rotates humerus
- draws scapula anteriorly and inferiorly
acting alone:
- clavicular head flexes humerus and sternocostal head extends it from flexed position
Pectoralis minor m. - origin/ proximal
3rd-5th ribs near their costal cartilages
Pectoralis minor m. - insertion/ distal
medial border and superior surface of coracoid process of scapula
Pectoralis minor m. - innervation
medial pectoral n. (C8, T1)
Pectoralis minor m. - action
stabilizes scapula by drawing it inferiorly and anteriorly against thoracic wall
Subclavius m. - origin/ proximal
junction of 1st rib and its costal cartilage
Subclavius m. - insertion/ distal
inferior surface of middle third of clavicle
Subclavius m. - innervation
nerve to subclavius (C5, C6)
Subclavius m. - action
anchors and depresses clavicle
Serratus anterior m. - origin/ proximal
external surface of lateral parts of 1st-8th ribs
Serratus anterior m. - insertion/ distal
anterior surface of medial border of scapula
Serratus anterior m. - innervation
long thoracic n. (C5, C6, C7)
