Active Reading vs. Passive Reading

A

Active reading is reading with questions in mind, with the aim to understand the content. Passive reading is technically reading. Each word is read, but little comprehension occurs.

What do concordances do?

A

They list all the words of the text alphabetically, with references for where they appear, along with a few of the surrounding words to give some context.

What do topical Bibles do?

A

A topical bible consists of alphabetically organized entries on subjects found in Scripture. So pretty much a Bible dictionary, but t.b. only has short comments on the things. They’re not as extensive.
