Evolution Flashcards
What is Natural Selection?
The process of which organisms with certain, more desirable traits/characteristics tend to reproduce more successfully.
What is Positive Change?
The increase of an organisms fitness, which makes it more likely to survive/reproduce
What is Negative Change?
The decreasing of an organisms fitness, less likely to survive/reproduce.
What is Neutral Change?
There is not change that effects the organism’s fitness
Do individuals evolve?
No, populations do!
What are the three kinds of selection?
Directional, Stabilizing, & Diversifying.
What is Directional selection?
The more likely to survive (like peppered moths!)
What is Stabilizing Selection?
The intermediate between under average and extreme to be the most fit.
What is Diversifying Selection?
The favoring of 2 extremes over any others.
