Demons are spirits of wicked deceased people- 1
Parapsychologists- Paranormal activity is associated with certain people as a result of “negative energy”.

Roam the earth because they have “unfinished business”
Critique #1- 1
The only spirits that have any activity on earth as seen in Scripture is that of holy and unholy angels.
Spirits of the deceased location- 1
Either in heaven or hell- they are not free to roam the earth.
Necromancy- 1
OT law demands the death of those who practice necromancy
Evil Angels- Origin #2
Demons are the disembodied spirits of a race who lived before the creation of Adam.
Emery Bancroft- 2
Before the creation of Adam and Eve, a race of people on the earth were ruled by Lucifer. When he rebelled, so did the earth.
Bancroft- What do demons seek?- 2
They seek the bodies of men and endeavour to use them as their own.
Critique #2- 2
Scripture does not hint that there was another race of beings.
- Adam declared to be the first human
-Possess bodies: Unless God gives them permission to function outside of the invisible realm, they cannot.
- Restrictions, they desire to possess physical bodies to have more activity in the physical world.
Main influence of demons- 2
Putting thoughts in human minds. God allows this if the person allows it (seeking power)
Evil Angels- Origin #3
Demons are the offspring of the sons of God and the daughters of men as described in Genesis 6:1-4.
“Sons of God”- 3
Angels who lusted after women. The offspring was unholy (Nephilim), the spirits of these mongrels roam earth today.
Support for view 3- 3
- Jesus preached to the spirits from Noah’s day who are in prisons (1 Peter 3:19, 20)
- Angels confined to dungeons for punishment, just as the people of Noah’s day were punished in a similar manner (2 Peter 2:4,5)
- “Pursuing strange flesh” (Jude 6)
- Similarities between the people of Sodom and the angels lusting after women
Critique #3- 3
-Angels are non-material beings, they would need physical bodies to impregnate a female (this power can only come from God)
- Angels are sexless, no gender, no physical body, no sexual urges or need to procreate
- Neither passages refer to Genesis 6:1-4
- Jude 6, no indication of sexual impropriety, left their God-given function
