moral evil: evil caused by humans
natural evil: not caused by humans but can be environmental/naturally occurring like earthquakes
Arguments against the existence of God in relation to evil and suffering
If he was omnipotent then why does he not stop the evil
If he was omnibenevolent, he would want to stop the suffering of innocent people
If he was omniscient and just he would know evil exists and would want to stop it
For the existence of God in relation to evil and suffering
-God gave humans free will and they choose to disobey him, which can cause suffering so it is the fault of humans not God.
- natural evil is a punishment for disobeying God
- Humans only have limited knowledge and understanding of God so they should trust in him because he is just
