What are some different Christian views about resurrection?
of humans not jesus
-Christians believe that Jesus’ resurrection means that they will also rise after death
-Some believe there will be a day of judgement, Jesus will come back and judge everyone, dead will be resurrected
-Some believe resurrection happens straight after death, the persons soul is resurrected
-Roman Catholics and Orthodox Christians believe in a body resurrection, both spiritual and physical
-Other Christians believe resurrection will be spiritual, not physical
How do views about resurrection influence Christians today?
-Will rather be buried
-Will not be scared of death as it is not the end
-Inspires them to live in the way God wants them to
-Confess their sins
-May make death of a loved one easier, as they may be in afterlife
-Shows how much God loves them
- gives hope of future life with Jesus
- inspires christians to live lif the way God wants them to so they can remain in his prescence is this life and the next
What do Christians believe about the afterlife?
-They believe it will either happen immediately after death or after the day of judgement
-It is also known as ‘eternal life’, will be spent in the presence of God

-Heaven is the state or place of eternal happiness in the presence of God, it may be either a physical or spiritual place
-A good life will be rewarded in heaven
-Roman Catholics believe in ‘purgatory’ which is when souls are cleansed in order to enter heaven.
What do Christians believe about hell?
-It is the state or place of eternal suffering if God is not present, may either be a spiritual or physical place.
-Personal identity kept(from life on Earth)
-A bad life will be punished in Hell
What are problems with the belief of Heaven & Hell?
-There would be physical evidence
-The earth is round so where would heaven and hell be?
-Will it get full?
-If heaven is perfect then what if people have different views on perfection?
-What if family/friends are not there?
-What if you’re a good person but aren’t Christian.
Who do Christians believe will get into heaven?
A. Christians (believers in Jesus)
B. Christians and followers of other religions who have lived good lives
C. Baptised Christians regardless of actions
-However most Christians believe heaven is a reward for both faith and actions
How does the belief in life after death influence christians?
- Christians will try to follow Gods commandments and help others to make sure that when they are judged by God they will enter heaven
- it gives Christians reassurance that death is not the end and they could see their loved ones again. - may help them feel comfort if a loved one dies.
