Everything Radreview Flashcards
To see barium filled Sigmund colon center 2” below ASIS and what and how much of an angle do you use
Cephalic 30-40 to see Sigmund w/o superimposition of the loops
Lumbar spine flexion/extension
The pelvis should act as a fulcrum for this series. 1-2” of iliac crest at bottom of IR.
Suspend breathing on expiration for even density throughout image.
Important that the bend comes fr spine not hips
Target theory
Specifies DNA are the targets of greatest importance and sensitivity
Normal bun level (blood, urea, nitrogen)
8-25mg/100ml
High dose of radiation to whole body cause somatic effects in min, hours, days, weeks. The 3 classifications are
hematologic, gastrointestinal, and central nervous system
Normal blood pressure
90-120systolic mmHg 60-80diastolic mmHg
low systolic blood pressure indicates shock
60mmHg
high blood pressure
over 140 systolic and diastolic higher than 90mmHg
The 1.0-mm lead equivalent apron will provide close to 100% protection at most kVp levels,
but it is rarely used because it weighs anywhere from 12 to 24 lb!
A 0.5-mm lead equivalent apron will attenuate about 99.9% of a 50-kVp beam, 88% of a 75-kVp beam
, and 75% of a 100-kVp beam.
Slow scan direction (C) speed refers to the linear travel speed of the image plate through the CR reader.
The IP moves slowly through the transport system of a CR reader and this movement is considered the slow-scan direction.
The laser light in the reader is rapidly reflected by an oscillating polygonal mirror that redirects the beam through a special lens called the f-theta lens, which focuses the light on a cylindrical mirror that reflects the light toward the IP.
This light moves back and forth very rapidly to scan the plate transversely, in a raster pattern, and this movement of the laser beam across the IP is therefore called the fast-scan direction
definition of varus

Dose response curves is relating dose to response in a line graph.
What does a straight line started at x axis 0 placement mean
Linear Non-threshold
No safe dose. No threshold.
The straight line means response is proportional to dose. As dose increases response increases
Threshold Dose
A particular amount of dose must be rcvd before response will occur.
Curve will start (x axis) on anything except 0.
Can be linear or nonlinear (curve) once the minimum dose is rcvd response starts slowly initially, and then increases sharply as exposure increases
