Evaluate analysis Flashcards
Assess/evaluate analytic finding
Determine what analysis has provided as an answer to the question. Build an argument map to understand the strength of the case supporting the judgment. Determine what subquestions or aspects of the primary questions remain unanswered after analysis
Impact of remaining gaps in assumptions
Use argument mapping or logical reasoning to determine if filling critical gaps or changing assumptions would change the judgment. The more change in the judgment, the more impact the gap or assumption has.
Analysis of alternatives
Generate possible alternatives to the analytic conclusions. Alternative hypothesis should be identified. Consider other explanation for the data and findings from analysis. Explain how critical assumptions and potential answers to unaddressed subquestions can change the analytic judgement. Ask “what if we’re wrong?”
Confidence selection
Assign a confidence level to the judgment that reflects the credibility and reliability of sources, the remaining gaps and their impact on the judgment, the strength of the argument including the use of assumptions, and the rigor added by the use of analytical technique and methods.
